The loss of a great musician and motorcyclist

I have just spent most of my afternoon reflecting on the loss of Neil Peart of Rush. Not only a huge influence on me musically, but also as a motorcyclist and adventurer. If any have read his books and writings, his time on his BMW was where he was most at peace with himself. “The Ghost Rider” really stands out for me. Truly will be missed- RIP Neil!

Yup. Arguably the BEST drummer ever. (I'm not saying this, other professional drummers are.) RUSH just happens to be 1 of my 2 favorite bands (the other is ASIA, FWIW). I've always wanted Neil Pearts drum solo in YYZ to be my morning alarm but I'm afraid I'd wet the bed when I heard it. :)

Rest in peace, brother.

Agree on both counts above. Another great loss to music. Lucky I have the recordings to keep the memories alive.

yea, its was a sad day....I love Rush's music....
I met him in TX. riding a BMW, at a small eatery. He was off by himself, I just walked by and said 'Hang in there Neil'. He said thank you....a extremely nice guy.
couple of guys I was with, 'Hey! Neil Peart!' I said, guys, leave him alone, he just lost his family....they gave him his distance....
Loose your family then go out that way....

Celebrities pass away all the time, but this one really hit me hard. I was sad when Keith Moon died, I was sad when Bonham died, but when I read Neil had passed away, I was devastated. One of the greatest drummers and lyricists of all time. I've been a Rush fan since 1976 and saw them in concert numerous times. What a tremendous blow to the music world.

Something I always thought was great about Neil and his writing was how you could place the motorcyclists perspective on a lot of his lyrics. Some were pretty obvious he was riding when the lyric would come to mind. Cycle World had an article in honor of Neil last week- now I can't find the link i was gonna post. ...off on your way, hit the open road- there is magic at your fingers...Godspeed brother. See ya on the otherside!
