For the 1600 mufflers only issues would be the mounting lug positions and the inlet stub diameter. Mounts can be made to match the muffler mounts to the bike. If the muffler inlet diameter fits the header outside diameter no reason they wouldn't work. Take the mufflers off your 1700 and compare them to the 1600 mufflers, answers should be pretty obvious.
The 1700 and 1600 engines are similar enough that the muffler baffle style means little. You might have to get the 1700 ECU Ivanized to better suit the fueling on a bike with more open exhaust. A freer flowing muffler tends to lean out the fuel/air mix so remapping the ECU would be beneficial if the 1600 mufflers work.

My 1700 was debaffled when I got it. So its doable. It seems to be more work than the 1600. Mine looks almost guttted.
You will want to ivanize the bike if it hasn't been done. It won't matter what the exhaust is.

What about drilling the baffle at the end of the pipe?
