3 Plastic Tubes Hanging Down

There are three plastic tubes that hang down under my bike. One is located under right front of engine, another is under right rear and the third is located under left rear of engine. Now my question is what are these tubes for. I am sure the one under right rear of engine is probably a battery overflow or maybe coolant resevoir overflow. Now the one I really want to know about is the one under left rear of engine. On occassion I will get a drip out of this one. Is that normal or do I have a problem?

One of them is a fuel overflow. I only have two on my bike. I don't think it is a sign of a problem when they drip. I know mine does sometimes if I fill the bike too full and it sets in the sun, get some drips then.

I'm sure Mac, BD or Bob can give you the full break down on what they are for.

Mine that seems to drip is the one on the left side at the rear of the engine. I haven't looked up under it too well to see where it leads. Mine does have three hanging down, two on the right side and one on the left side.

One is the drain from around the fuel cap, one is coolant overflow and one is from the right side air intake, if water should get in behind the dog dish.

There should be one connected to your battery as well so that if it boils in the event of electrical problems it doesn't spew acid all over your machine.

So far as I know the the air filer one running off the right side backing plate, runs back over to the left side and ends with a plug under the left side air filter. So far it has on ever bike including the 1 cali bike I worked on.

The ones at the rear of thengine should pass thru a metal holder, and are coolant and fuel.

The coolant begins at the rez under the right side cover, the fuel begins at the right rear of the tank no matter which model (cali or not) The Cali version does not exit to the ground though.

There is a rain water car wash drain at the ft right of the tank too.

The other one low right side you can see is a duel drain in a void between the engine oil seal and a water pump seal. So it could leak both fluids at the same time or just one.

These can be trimmed back and if you do I suggest a 45 degree angle cut with the long side facing forward. be sure to leave enough the holders still hold the hoses..

That happens when you over fill some.. Or maybe in the deep south when the sun expands the fuel???? and you are still a bit too full.... Loss in dollars, maybe, but then maybe you ain't as cheap and squeeky as me!
