Did I really see that?
I went for a ride today to Springfield, mo. On my way home, I saw something that made me do a double take.I was comming to a stop at a light and there it was an actual working AMC Pacer. I pulled right up next to it and wondered how long it had been since I had seen one.(15-20 yrs?) This one was in pretty good shape and you could tell it was the everyday car for the driver. unfortunetly it was not blurring Bohemian Rhaposdy and there was sign of Wayne or Garth.

Well, hate to admit it now but I had a 72 AMC Hornet which really was a pretty good car had a 304, 4 speed. Was stock ran pretty good sold it when I got stationed in Korea.
I also owned a Pacer too in 76, got hit by a bus about 2 months after I got it, totaled it and did not choose to get another.... was a very stable ride with that wide wheel base.... definatley didnt have any blind spots. AMC wasnt too bad, almost bought a Javelin... but ended up with a Road Runner.

My pal had a Javelin, that was nice. But I really liked the AMX with the 401 ci motor. Thats what I should have bought.

Ahh, the AMC Pacer. Your mention of the car and Wayne and Garth brought a smile to my face. Good movie. No, I take that back; great movie. Reminds me of high school and having a lot less responsibility...

I had a 67 RAMBLER AMBASSADOR It was built like a tank. I was probably the only kid in school with air conditioning
As far as double takes I had one today, a bunch of young girls doing a car wash OH you meant as far old cars go :-[ ;)

I can't remember the last time I saw a Pacer on the road. Come to think of it, I haven't seen a Pinto or Vega in years, either. Those Gremlins with the 304 V8 were quick little cars. I had a 1974 Jeep CJ5 with a 304 4bbl, that thing was quick, even with 32" tires on it. Kept destroying u-joints for some reason. ::)

I installed a 327 400hp Corvette engine with a Turbo 400 tranny and a Chrysler 8 3/4 rear end in my Gremlin, that was a quick little car that sure surprised a lot of people off the lights.
