Gas Tank Removal Help Please...2000 Nomad 1500 FI
Hi, I just purchased a 2000 Nomad (1500) FI and I want to flush the coolant, at the same time I want to check the hose clamp under the tank to make sure nothing is leaking (thought I smelled coolant). After reading many post I realize the hose clamps sometimes need tightning...Long story short...I have everything apart except the two vent hoses (I think) ...My Clymers really goes in the carburator model but doesn't appear to address the FI model...I'm just not really sure where these two hose are to slide my tank back 3 inches...Or to take it off, whichever I need to do to get to these hose clamps...I read Gadgets instructions but I must be mechanically inept...Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...Thank you, Jody

Gas Tank Removal Help Please...2000 Nomad 1500 FI
Hi. I can only tell you about the 05 model as thats what I have. The two vent hoses are on the right side under the tank (as you sit on the bike) one near the front and one near the back. I presume you have disconnected the fuel line ? Taking the tank completely off is the way to go to get at the hoses.

Seems you got it. The forward hose is a rain water drain/carwash drain, the top side near and covered by the gas cap. On occasions send a little compressed air thru it, easy..... to be sure it isn't filled with leaf debris ir dust.
The right rear one is the tank fuel over flow, and used if you fill the tank up too much, to drain gas. You can as you likey found pull the rear hose with the tank. In any case remove these hoses, and add a drop of light oil to the steel fittings which will make getting them off again in the future easy. Basicly any lube will work, might be grease, or rubber lube if you have any.
