Grasshopper Backrest

Can anyone comment on the Grasshopper backrest fitted to an 2005 Nomad 1600...likes and dislikes. I am considering one. I am 6' tall and about 170 lbs. Does it give the sensation of 'pushing' you ahead in the seat? Does it interfere with the passenger seating position at all? What about interference for the passenger to mount and dismount the bike? Looking at the website....I assume it is a fixed position backrest? I appreciate your comments and input. Thanks

Grasshoppers backrest is a very common item on this forum. He has sold a ton of them. I don't think you can go wrong for the price. I had him make me a rectangular one.

I have one on an 08 Nomad I wouldn't ride without it. Very comfortable.

I have had his backrest on several bikes and he has sent me a bracket for the Nomad so I can re-use it. He is a stand up guy with good service. I like his design because it is easily removed and you do not need to cut into your passenegr seat to install it like the Utopia.

I did modify mine using a Mustang seat stanchion so if would flip forward.

I bought one a few months ago. I love it. Makes the long rides a little more comfortable. I take it off (slides right off) when riding around town running errands. Great product and you can't beat the price. I bought the studded one to match my seats. It matched perfectly.

When you first get on the bike, with the Grasshopper, it initially feels like it is pushing you forward just a little. But as you ride, you slowly sink back into it, and after awhile you don't notice that feeling. It's a great backrest and definitely worth the money. Makes the ride much more enjoyable.

It is a fixed position but I actually like that about it. It is a solid post so you can bend it to get it in just the right position. I did notice that when I leaned into it, it does seem to give a little so I put it in a vise and bent it forward a bit and now it is great.

I second all the comments on here. I had one and rode with it for about a year. I'm 6'6" and about 250. Used it for two long distance trips last year and loved it. This year I switched over to a Utopia to give me a little more space and adjustability - mine did push me forward maybe an inch. Still, the quality of the product is fantastic and I had zero issues with it. Highly recommended.
