Chrome Plating
When you find out I'll be sending mine there as well. I've wanted to do that for a while but haven't found a place to do it. Hope someone can give us some direction. I'd be interested to know about how much it would cost also.

Chrome plating shops aren't as easy to find as they used to be. The chemicals used in the plating process are extremely hazardous and the cost of handling and disposal of the waste has driven many out of the business.

Youll have to look someone up locally if you can. I had some pieces rechromed when I first bought my bike and they are no longer around for the reasons CJ stated. It wasn't cheap when I had it done either. For example I had a rear crash bar chromed that was scraped a bit, a new bar was $90.00 here, the chrome place wanted $120.00 to rechrome it. After I told them the price of the new bar he did it for $85.00. And this was supposedly the cheaper of two places. Usually you can buy a new piece cheaper than having the old one rechromed, at least around here.

there is a link to a good guy on chucksters website. I'm sending my tour pak rack to him once I get it done. He seems like a good guy, called me on the phone to discuss my project when I sent him pictures and made suggestions on what I could do to make the chrome come out better.

I called this place once and got a quote but as others have said, it's really expensive these days. Have heard good reports about this shop though.

Give these guys a call. I used them for a lot of chrome work on my Harley and it has held up well. Good quality service and results.
http://www.chromemasters.com/ Also, check this site out for chrome grills, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-G...Q5fAccessories You can cross reference part numbers between models here; http://www.kawasakipartsnation.com/ I checked the 1500 vs 1600 and they use the same grill. So the grill on ebay should fit either but don't take my word for it. Double check.... |

I have sent some of the parts on the GTO to Advanced Plating in Nashville Tn. As others have mentioned, it isn't cheap, but the quality is better than Pontiac ever dreamed.
