Installed New Spark Plugs Today

I have been thinking about changing the spark plugs but didn't want to pay the price the dealer charges for the plugs. If I'm not mistaken they are about $9 per plug at my local dealer and when I say local they are about 25 miles away. Thought I would check with Advance Auto and see if they carry the NGK DPR6EA-9 plug. They do carry them but not my local store. He checked and said the store about 5 miles north of me had them. I made the trip up and picked up four at a total cost of $12.92. Figure I saved roughy $25 by buying at Advance rather than the dealer. Used a little dielectric and anti seeze and put the plugs in. I only had 10,433 miles on the old plugs but with it being a 2008 model and built in 2007 they were about three years old. I could definitely feel a lot of difference. For less than $13.00 and about 30 minutes of my time for taking the old ones out and replacing with the new ones it was well worth it. I took pictures of the old plugs and will post it later. The tips and the insulator looked like the Nomad is running just as it should be.

Brad you have one heck of a memory. That was a year ago this month and you remembered.

I didn't get a splinter but I did hit the back of my hand. Didn't know I had hurt it until I spotted blood on the driveway.

With a memory like yours I will have to be careful what I say or do around you.

My memory is so bad when I go to the bathroom I can't even remember if I have wiped or not. Now run with that one.

He will probably want a high shipping charge to send them out.

Fish, this chart will decode it all for NGK plugs
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinf...tnumberkey.pdf

It looks like NGK DPR6EA-9 is the stock plug heat range, so you would seek out NGK DPR7EA-9 for one range colder

Thanks for the link about the spark plug chart Mac.

Ricky I will have to check the guy out on eBay. Seems like a deal unless like Steve said he charges a bunch for shipping.

Any decent auto parts can have these in the next day, if they are not in stock. NAPA VIP, OReilies etc etc.

There is 0 needs to go to the stealers. Many seals can be yanked out to see the numbers too, sometimes you can see the numbers if the 12 year old kid next door is around with out pulling the seals at all.

You write on something called paper and record the numbers the kid reads off in order!

The pick up that cell and call the Auto shop, because they asnwer the phone faster than they do real people customers.

Read off the number, see if it's in stock, ask how much in yen and go git em. Most seals will be in stock, unlike the stealers. Most plugs will be instock too. These are a bit peculiar plugs, so settle for next day service. Or as Gene did take the excuse for a ride.

Currently NGK is my most favored plug, so long as it comes in the size I need.

When checking them for gap, be sure to spend a little carb cleaner on the carbon, and use a thumbnail to scrape the starting thread and before it.

Anti seize the threads fully.
Pull the rubber boot off the clip on resistor and see they are not green.

I don't know why, but lt ft and rt rr gaps were way opened up, while the other 2 were still just right. Heat and breathing I guess.

Yes you did and you noted, "those things can hurt!" It was a metal that you got a splinter from.

Could be you were wiping with a rat tailed file?

I ran the one step colder plug for about 1000 miles. Pulled them and they were starting to foul. Replaced back with stock and no issues.

I don' know why, it was the question. I have 18,000+ on my plugs and they ain't dead yet. I serviced them before the lake ride. I got fast starts, good power and will look at 20,000 next.

Glad i did look since the green gook from hell was up in one resistor.
