Shinko 757 blog
Had to try the Shinko 757. I had read the bad reviews on the 747 and the 757 is supposed to be an all new compound and tread design. It is a radial and the one on my nad is a 180/70R16. Paid $122 at Ch apparel Motorsports with no shipping or tax. In the two weeks it has been on the mileage remains low at 250. Thus far it is a comfortable and predictable ride both solo and 2 up.Anyone who has ridden with me knows that I tend to get aggressive and have no qualms thus far. The ride is not as aggressive as the Bridgestone 850G but very confident. At 105 it is rock steady and the tread is deep so hopefully it will give me good mileage.
A bit of history to share my research. Shinko was a Japanese bicycle inner tube and tire manufacture who bought out Yokohama motorcycle recipes, mods and technology to manufacture in South Korea. their rep is great when it comes to racing tires and dirt bikes but poor mileage on the 747. Allegedly they reformulated everything on the 757 and worked with Honda to produce this tire for the Goldwing. It has been road tested here in the US by Goldwing riders and allegedly meets Honda's satisfaction. Alsoo just an FYI EBC Ceramic brakes suck. 7000 miles and they are paper thin. Hope you have good service out of it. I had heard of the company bicycle wise but didn't know they were in the motorcycle end of the tire business.

So far, and I know it is early with about 600 miles on them I can report the following. When hitting the breaks hard they slide easily. The ride comfort is exceptional and if they give me good mileage and a sense of stability in wet weather I could be happy.

Here is the latest. The ride is very smooth and they get lots of compliments. The down side is the traction. They seem to be loose on the road. that is to say when breaking hard the back tire will lock up and slide. When Pulling out with a hard right turn the rear end slides.
So it calls for conservative riding Login or Register to Remove Ads |

If it locks up easily it will probably last a long time due thats its most likely a harder rubber compound. But you pay for it in loss of traction. Ive heard of the Shinko, but I don't think they are that popular here for bikes. Ive seen some trailer tires from them in stores.

Been putting on the miles and the ride is smooth and now that I am used to it predictable.
All that is left is mileage |

To clarify.
Since my bevel gears went bad and the clutch disintegrated it isn't really fair to judge the Shinko. Just wanted to be fair. |

Sorry to hear of the problems with the bike. Too bad about the tire. Is the bike fixed yet?

Where you running the correct air pressure in the tire? thats usually a cause for tire cupping.
