Dreading Spring

Well it is January that means in about a month or month and a half it will get nice enough around here to get the bikes out again.

I am not sure that I am ready for that as this will be my first full season without a bike since I sold my Nomad last summer. I know I am going to have fun spending the time camping with my kids but it isn't the same. Maybe it is just cabin fever setting in or something.

Hang in there Paul. Life's road always has some bumps in it. Remember, your kids are only kids for a short time. They grow up way to fast.

Hopefully your kids will get in to riding and then you can all ride together. I'm close to that point. 1 more year till my son gets his license. :)

Just enjoy what you have. I have lived for years without a bike and years with a bike. It was fun when I had them and fun when I didn't. Of course owning a Nomad now does make me look more forward to warm weather.

For me, it was always the first warm day -- when all the bikes came out and I could ride around with the window down, holding my arm out to feel the wind.

Before I knew it, the kids were out of the house, and I started back riding.

You are doing the right thing.

It will be mid March before Im back on the road, as much as I miss riding the bike It also means I can go snowmobiling, icefishing, and catch up on a few things around the house.
And thats a nice break for a couple months to get out and do some other stuff.

I think you will find that when the kids grow up, you'll have a chance to buy back the toys, and just imagine how nice the Nomad will be by then. Kids really do grow up fast, so enjoy spending time with them while you can.

You are doing the right thing for sure! I went throught that.... now my son is all grown up and has his own bike... we ride alot and last year started Mega trips! They do growup fast! I camp and wish I had camped more when my son was younger....

I also agree with Ring... I put the bike away on Oct 1st when Bow season opens... I then hunt deer till season is over.... then Ice Fish ... then call coyotes ... then spring turkey season... then back to the bike in May! .... I did sneak a week of riding in between Christmas and New Years .... that takes off the edge... But ice fishing is ON.....

I went about nineteen years between bike while the kids were small. Actually it went by pretty quick. I was fortunate enough to be able to borrow a freinds bike once in a while during those years and keep myself in the spirit of riding.

Nope.....you are gonna miss that bike bad dude. I'm kinda in the same boat in a sense. Due to my eye surgery last summer, I had to retire from umpiring baseball. As soon as spring hits and the balls start flying.....I will be hanging on the fence like a lost little puppy.... :'(. Once it is in your blood.....

The good news though, is that the kids will grow up fast enough so enjoy them while you can. There will always be a bike with your name on it sometime down the road!

Man that ain't right. So they figure you can see good enough to drive and ride but not good enough to keep an eye on a ball. I am sorry to hear that. I know you loved it.

I could have just got tired of make a payment on something to watch it collect dust. 3 kids, oldest is 4, youngest is 7 months. No time to ride. Sold the Nomad and bought a camper. I can take them along for that. Still miss the bike though.
