Long distance on a Night hawk... pic added
I went for a ride today and while stopped for a coffee, I meet a Guy traveling on a 750 Night Hawk. The bike was really loaded, I mean I don't think I have seen so much luggage and packs on a bike before.
Turns out He left his home in San Francisco on June 11th and has been traveling all over the U.S and Canada. He made his way across the U.S down into Florida, back up to North Carolina, he accidentally did deals gap at 11.30 at night in a rain and wind storm ( Boy that is sounding a little familiar), toured all over Vermont, came up into Canada and has been touring around here. We meet him in Hawksbury Quebec and he was headed up Thunder bay way and around the lake head before dropping down into the U.S for a bit. He will slowly make his way west to-wards home. He has to be back in September some time I think he said. To date he has traveled 18,600km since leaving home. Boy I couldn't help feeling jealous.

I'd love to be able to spend all summer riding, but i'd hate to have to do it on a 750 nighthawk.

Damn Norm, this is why we, well some of us anyway, carry a camera. You can take pictures and up load them to this site so we all can see them. Geeezz ::)

Sounds like a fun trip! I agree with Scott though. Wrong bike for that kind of riding.

He must like spending a lot of hours in the saddle if he's still out at 11:30 pm. It sounds like quite a trip though.

I was jealous of the trip not on doing it on a Night Hawk.
My brother took a pic or two, I'll see if I can get one from him and post it. When he told the story of riding the dragon at night in the storm, it kind of reminded me of Gwilson's day from hell up on the parkway and our encounter with that storm the last part of our way back to Maggie valley from the Dragon.

It will be one of his most memorable times. I have been to all of the New England states on each of my MC's. The smaller the displacement, the more road you feel, the better the experience. I took a trip out to see my son in Rochester, N.Y. on my CB750K Honda, people thought I was nuts. I had a blast, I have done the same trip on my Nomad and found it to be less exciting.

Back in the day the Honda 750 was considered a big bike.Lots of touring miles were made on the 750.They had about the same HP as our Nomads and weighed almost 200 lbs less.Throw on a Vetter Windjammer fairing and some bags and you had a great touring bike. The only drawback I can see is the 750 had a chain rather than a shaft or belt.

Wow...memory lane ....
I had a Honda 750 K back in the early 80's with a fairing & Krauser hard cases. Did lots of gr8 trips including 3 Laconia bike week runs. Funny, back then we did not complain about num buts....LOL Cheers

Good for him. It just might be the trip of his life.

My neighbour still has his Honda 750 in the shed, it needs some work but he wants to restore it someday.

Thanks Norm, hat guy should be doing a wheelie every time he takes off with that much weight on the rear of the bike.

I can imagine the nightmare trying to find something in those packs. He must spend a lot of time loading and unloading.
