150+ mph and at night even. Wouldn't have taken anything to pull out in front of him to kill him and someone else. Good thing the cop didn't wreck, too. What an asshat.

We have had several this year clocked at over 130 mph. They are all doing time plus fines.

I've done 140 mph on my old '99 magna 750. But that was during the day on a long stretch of highway with barely any cars (Not sayin' it was a good thing to do though). It was hairy to say the least, I can't image doing faster than that and at night no less! He is an idiot that deserves to lose his motorcycle license.

Given that the culprit, Fox, was a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, the owner of several technology companies and a disabled veteran... I would say that he exhibits the characteristics of an "over-achiever" and "adrenaline-junky".

Don't know the details of his military duty, but it sounds like he saw action -- whether it was on the ground or as a fighter-pilot. If he was a pilot... that explains even more to me -- especially if he saw a lot of action in the air.

Quite a few fighter-pilots that I know (and I have had the privilege of knowing quite a few) have "peaked-out" given the extreme adrenaline rushes and highs they had endured. Coming back to the "States" and living a normal life for them doesn't quite "cut-it"... if you know what I mean.

So to a guy like that... doing 150MPH is nothing on the scale of "rushes".

I tried topping out my 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200 once at night. That wasn't the smartest thing to do either, but it's one of those stupid things you do when you don't know any better. I was on a 4 lane highway with no body else on the road. Once I hit 160 reality set in (and I got scared of the speed) I figured it was time to shut it down.

That was my one stupid experience on a motorcycle, but one that I just had to try. I never tried it again while I owned that bike and will not try it on another. I would like to own another sport bike, but not for that reason. They're just fun. I don't think I've even had the Nomad above 80 since I've been riding it, even though I know it will do it. There's just no need for that kind of speed.
