Clint

Seems he's taken some brickbats for this from Mark Steyn and Karl Rove. I get their point, but Clint isn't an Obamite. What did you think of the commercial? I love Clint and can't imagine he is batting for the other team. He didn't make a dime from this.

To be honest Ponch, I did wonder about this commercial. I could see how people thought it was a pro O'Bama ad. Clint did issue a statement stating that was the furthest thought from his mind.

I agree with Steyn in principle, although Rove is an ahole...I still want to understand why Clint would do this if it was meant the way Steyn asserts. It doesn't make sense.

I took it as pro Obama. Surprised me that Eastwood had made it. I guess I can understand his saying that the concept of halftime wasn't alluding to the middle of potentially an eight year presidency, but nothing about the economic situation automatically lends itself to that analogy, whereas the timing in the political cycle certainly fits it. So that seemed the logical interpretation. I also don't think Eastwood is so dumb as to have missed that possible inference.

I think Clint should have been a little more selective about which company he advertised for.
The American taxpayer is taking a loss of 1.3 billion dollars on the Chrysler loan. While the Chrysler workers are getting a $1500 profit sharing bonus this year.
Ford did not take a bail out. I buy Ford.

I definitely think there were many who felt there was a subliminal message in the commercial and just like Susan B. Komen's latest debacle... It is going to have long standing consequences with many no matter who or what they deny.

I know of a few people saying they will never buy a Chrysler... (Personally I wouldn't even if they hadn't done the commercial. I can always tell when it is one of their cars because of the smoke signals it puts out!)

TC... Chrysler claims they paid all their loans back ahead of schedule.

As much as I like Mr. Eastwood, I agree with dank. He had to know and half time? What does that have to do with Chrysler..........

I don't think he's so dumb either and the guy is a libertarian. I just don't understand it. He didn't even take money for it.

I think it would have been great if he did that for ford. Obviously Ford wasn't thinking like that.

In General, I haven't been a Mopar fan, although I think the Cummins rocks. I have been GM for the most part, but owning a Suburban for the last few years has changed me. Best car I have ever owned is a VW.

Hey, come on...I mean it's Clint Eastwood, for crying out loud!

I think Clint is one of the few Hollywood-types who still has a fair amount of credibility today.

Go ahead, make my day!
