Fueling your bike

What side do you stand on when fueling your bike?

It's easier if you sit on the bike keeping it level when you fill, but again, I'm not worried about self immolation, I put that danger in the same category as being afraid a cell phone will cause an explosion... highly overrated...

As close to the tank as possible!

Brad, did you not read the question or was the spatial concept simply to complex for you? Scroll back up to the top, read more carefully before answering, or ask for help if you don’t understand some of the words, and then try again.

Just a heads up, most of us fill the tank while the bike is on side stand.
I think you can get more fuel in if it is on the side stand. ( see Bob's post #15 if you don't believe me )
That being said, I put the bike on the side stand and straddle it while filling.

I don't know why.

I do group rides with a collection of guys and gals on all sorts of makes and models and I'm always hearing from them how they'd drop their bikes if they fueled up like I do, keeping the bike upright straddling it and using the fuel hose.... I think it's the whole walk and chew gum at the same time thing...

You can get more in the tank when the bike is resting on the side stand.
If you don't believe it, just fill it up while holding it level and when it's full, put it on the side stand and see how much more you can put in.

As to the question of which side to stand on, who really cares. Do it however you want.
