Best Trunk w Rack for 08 Nomad
I'm in the process of making my beautiful black/red 08 Nomad perfect for me and your input and knowledge has made it a ton easier for me. I already ordered the grasshopper backrest, on Monday I'm ordering the reckless fairing w stereo and will give her tlc in accordance w info on maintaining her from what I'm learning on this forum. I' planning on seeing as much of this great country of ours as possible on 2 lane roads so was wondering about getting the best trunk poossible. I'm looking for one that makes it comfy for riding 2 up and has a rack. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Not to hard I did it so its not that hard if your wife or girlfriend will be riding behind you once you mount the wompus rack sit her on bike and set the tourpak on the rack and see where she would like the trunk to set. (Lesson Learned)Some pics of mine with Tourpak and Reckless Fairinghttp://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/...m/DSC01442.jpg right side http://i1195.photobucket.com/albums/...m/DSC01450.jpg backside and leftside mine is a King Tour Pak the ultras have the lights in the back found it the rack and backrest on ebay for 360 had to have it painted and I put new hinges and latches on it. I got the extended wompus rack I think it works better you just unbolt your back rest at the grab handles and the wompus replaces it. Here is link to Wompus Racks he is a member here http://www.wompusracks.com/

Tom, thanks for the info. The pics, ebay sites and the info on setting it up for my girl are exactly what I was looking for. I really love my Nomad and plan on riding her everywhere and you all on this forum really have made a positive impact on it for me. Thanks again and I hope to ride w or meet some of you in the future.

You can't beat the HD Tour Pak for size and durability, There are a lot of accessories available for them and they look great.
If you getone from an Ultra, it will have the tailighlights built into it as well.

One option to consider.....my rack from Wompus was designed 1 1/2" lower than he usually makes them, gives it a lower profile and a bit more comfortable for the passenger

I also have an HD tour pak. Another alternative would be a Premeux trunk. It comes complete with lights, mounting rack and painted to match your bike for about $1700 these days. Once you start adding up all of the stuff to mount a trunk you can get close to that number anyway. Look at both to see which you will like.

Lookswise, the Voyager trunk looks best, IMO.

I just put a Premeux trunk on my 01 to replace the Harley tour pak that the lid broke. As of my last conversation with Premeux they've stopped offering the lighted spoiler as Harley is back ordered to a point they seem to never be able to get them. I'm really happy with the Premeux trunk so far and it is actually a touch larger than the Harley Tour pak.
