Voyager cruise control

The amber light comes on when I turn the cruise on, but no green light and won't engage. Thoughts?

What speed are you doing it at? I don't think it engages below a certain speed. On another note, I have a fellow who has a VN1700 Nomad, 2011, he was asking about a trailer hitch, I wasn't sure if you made for that model and the price, do you have any info?

Check and make sure your brake light bulb isn't burned out. Also check to see that the brake light isn't stuck "on" by a faulty brake switch.

I did the diagnostic test and clutch and brake levers are working correctly.

Sounds like a warranty issue, mine works fine.

Mine did that once I just pulled the clutch-and break levers and let them snap back a few times and the same with the rear break and kickstand and that took care of it. No trouble after that. Hope you are that lucky.

Ok I checked again holding in the mode button on the right side handlebar and turning the ignition on. Release the button and pulled the clutch in . That works and the front brake lever, that works and the rear brake pedal that works.. Nothing to the kickstand tho... Can you test and see if yours shows a function when the kickstand is moved up and down. Each time you do a test the amber cruise light will come on.

Check that your gear position indicator is reading correctly. If it's lying (says 4 when your in 6th) the cruise won't engage.
I know you say the clutch and brake switches are working according to the diagnostics, but you might try cleaning the contacts anyway, just remove the switches and spray some contact cleaner in the access holes, and remove/replace the wire connections. The clutch and rear brake has 2 separate switches and the front brake has 2 switches in one housing.
I've had to replace my gear indicator switch twice and clean the contacts numerous times to keep the cruise working.

The gear position switch is inside the transmission shift mechanism housing. No cleaning involved there as it's inside and bathed in oil, if it doesn't work just replace it.
The clutch switches are under the lever, you can hear them clicking if you pull the lever slowly, held in place by phillips head screws. The front brake switch is under the lever too, but it has two sets of contacts in the one housing. The rear brake switches are down by the pedal, the one under the metal cover is for the cruise.

Ok went deeper into the check mode of the onboard computer and all systems except the throttle cancel switch are operating. So now need to look at that switch on the throttle body and see if it possible to clean it or just replace. At least the sevice manual gives all the self test and the computer is helpful I hope.
Stay tuned for further info..
