Considering Chucksters Air kit

Hi all,

I am considering doing the Chucksters Air Kit...Single side....was wondering folks do to the left side when this mod is performed? Pics?

AND

Will the Cobra Fi2000 work ok with the air mod? It might be the Fi2000r...has three pots...

Looking for a bit more performance without killing mpgs....

Thanks in advance Gang!

I installed Chuckster's dual plate mod on the right side and the left side remained as it was. The crossover tube was blocked with the right inside plate leaving the left side a dud. Both sides kept the stock bowls.

Chuckster just released a left side mod that allows you to remove the left duct work and instal a chrome plate that looks awesome. Just ordered. Search threads for chucksters intake left side cover.

Me too.

My mileage dropped when I put on the TFI. It went down more with the dual plate mod. The problem is the power difference is noticeable and I am playing with the throttle too much.

You have any pics or a link where this cover is? I have a dual plate and am looking for a better cover option.

There shouldn't be any consideration to it. Just do it! I have loved every second of my bike since I put the Cobra exhaust and Chuckster's Single Plate kit. I'm using the TFI processor, but it should be similar to your Cobra processor in function. My mileage actually went up with my set-up. I rode 550 miles last weekend and averaged 41mpg compared to the 35-36 I usually got before the change.

My left side is open, didn't put anything on it. May look into this new plate that Chuckster has. I might leave it empty too, not sure. I highly recommend his set up though. You can't beat it for the price and the performance gains.

ok...so i gotta ask...

If you buy a single side kit....what causes the left sided to have to be removed? I am assuming you can leave the crossover tube in place, Joes mod "plugs" the crossover tube...so I dont understand why you cant use the original dog bowl?

I installed Chucksters Dual plate about a year ago, very pleased with it. I left the dogbowl on left side for a while, liked the balanced look. After a few months, I bought the Barons ignition relocation plate that replaces the left side dogbowl. So I removed the air cross over tube, just to get it out of the way, and installed the Barons kit. I love having the ignition switch and choke knob easier to access, and the Barons product looks good also. I think it was around $90, and a very easy install.

Nothing; on 1600 Nomads you put the chuckster kit on the right and the left side stays stock.

I also got the dual plate and left the left-side dogbowl as-is. My mileage dropped just a bit but I am a little throttle heavy now! Love it!
