Cobra lightbar

I just installed a cobra light bar on my bike. Not too bad, but the wiring stuff that comes with it is a little cheesy. The one thing I went Doh! on was that I have Edmunds lowers. Now I am going to have to trim them. In the mean time, I put the stockers back on. Oh well. I also installed a Mustang seat. I was surprised at how far forward it puts you. I put a 2 piece on my 800 and it didn't do that at all. We've had rain the last few days, so I'll have to wait to try it out.

I really like the lightbar. You can see it a long way off and it makes the bike look great!

I heard that about the Mustang seat from a bunch of people but they like them a lot. I don't think that it will help me as I need to move back a bit. Thinking of going to a custom place like some others here to have my seat pocket and back carved to the rear about an inch.

I'll ask another question: Those that have put in a cobra light bar, or any other, did you use a relay? If not, which power lead did you plug the light bar into? The instructions say "Feed the supplied black power wire from the other pole on your switch through the back of the
headlight housing and connect it to the blue front running light wire using the supplied blue quick splice." I plugged mine into one of the accessory leads in the headlight bucket. Is this a bad idea (other than the possibility of leaving the lights on all the time)?

That Mustang seat might be a problem. It pushes you forward about 2 inches and if you have the driver back rest another 2 inches. Had to take mine off and go back to stock. Still waiting on the return to go through. Good luck.

I spliced mine into the running lights, so there is no power without the ignition being on. I put the switch on the flat part of the light bar (right side). I used the accessory plugs in the headlight to plug my GPS into, draws less juice if I forget to shut it off. Have been running it for 3 yrs this way without any trouble.

I didn't know any options existed when I put mine on and followed the instructions to a "T".

Everything works great. They go on when I turn on the ignition and off when I shut off the key. I just leave the switch in the on position always.

I do too, but I work better with pictures, preferably in color.

I got it. The directions I downloaded were different than the one that came with the light bar. I read the one with the lightbar and made the change. Much better.

I had the same issue with Edmund's lowers when I recently installed my Kawa F&S lightbar (made by Cobra). I only had about a quarter inch interference. Rather than trimming the top of the lowers, I took a rattail file and elongated the holes and this allowed me to slide them down enough to clear the lightbar. If you bought Edmunds for "no lightbar installation" they may be too big for this to work for you.

The cobra bar is right in the way. I don't see how I can weasel them around. I will check again, but it doesn't look like it.
