Hello from Tennessee

I am new to touring. But, I started riding sport bikes years ago. I have been looking at Vulcan 900's wishing they had cruise control.

Is cruise control really needed on a touring bike?

Welcome from Florida!
What part of Tenn. are you out of? Beautiful state to live and ride for sure. Think you will find several cost effective options for cruise in these forums.

Is it needed? I wouldn't own another bike with out cruise control. I installed a real cruise control on my 2007 Nomad and it came standard on my new bike. Once you've had it, you wouldn't want to go without it.

This really isn't a Vulcan 900 site - it's dedicated to the bigger Vulcans, 1500/1600/1700.

I live in Middle Tennessee and have ridden short distances on the Natchez trace.

Of course my distance is limited because my bike is not intended for touring.

Welcome from Clarksville! My Vaquero came with cruise control. I have decided that it is one of the best inventions every made for a bike. That goes double now that I commute to Nashville every day!

Thanks for pointing this out to me. I thought that since some of the 900's came with saddle bags these would be considered baggers.

Hopefully in the future some of the bigger Vulcans with have cruise control as I would like to stay with the Kawasaki brand having owned Ninja sportbikes in the past.

As i sure you are know you have a beautiful ride on I24 when the red maples leaves are changing to their fall color.

I did not know that the Vaquero has cruise control. How do they handle in town?

Baggers are traditionally motorcycles with hard bags. Thus, the Nomad, Vaquero and Voyager are supported here. Not the Classic or VN2000 because they didn't have hard bags. The 1700 Nomads, Vaqueros and Voyagers all come standard with cruise control.

That doesn't mean others aren't welcome, just that you aren't going to find VN900-specific information here. They even let Harley owners stick around.

Welcome from Sin City, Nevada. Once you have a cruise control you will never want to go without it.
