Tour pack on Voyager
Due to less room for the passanger on the voyager compared to the 1600, I heard that someone modified the trunk mounting plate somehow and was able to move it back a couple of inches..
I sure would like to do the same on my 2010 Nomad since I have the same trunk on it.. Any idea let me know Tkx

http://s1150.photobucket.com/albums/...ghwayman2012/I used 1 1/2" square steel tubing on top of where the trunk bolts onto the rack, moved the trunk back 3 inches and bolted it to the tubes. All the wires were long enough to make it. The only drawback? on the Voyager was the mount isn't covered by the trim. I painted the tubes flat black and you really can't see them unless you are close.

The only drawback is the trim at the back of the trunk is disconnected from the side. Other than that it did the job... if there is a way it could be done without disconnecting the trim it would look reall good

Yes I've seen it done other ways but a lot more work. If comfort is your goal this can be done in a day or two. If looks are important the mount to the frame can be modified by cutting and welding. Someone on here said my bike looked like a hooptymobile and would rather ride uncomfortably. Others have gotten rid of their bike sighting room for their passenger as a major factor. It cost about $30 and it worked. You will have to decide what is best for you. I was hoping someone would come out with a more elegant bolt on, still waiting. That being said I could return it to stock in 20 minutes and since my wife got a new Spyder...

Functional for sure and a nice fix for a problem Kawi should have been more thoughtful in addressing in the first place. On a new HD, the trunks have some adjustability built in....as did the Premeux I had on my Nomad. It should be a given that not everyone is the same size or needs the same amount of room, but Kawi basically assumed that one tiny size fit all, and made no effort to make that setup adjustable. Hopefully they address that problem in future models.
To be honest, I'm not sure the Victory trunk is adjustable either, but at least they give you lots of room, (think 1600 Nomad), so it is not a problem. I also had issues with the basic size of the trunk, smallish and less cargo room that my Premeux (HD style) trunk. Good to see someone taking the initiative in coming up with a fix though.

Not sure what adjustability you're referring to? I believe there's a second set of holes in the Harley trunk and it can be moved maybe a couple inches back. I bought a Kuryakyn tour pack adjuster that fits between the tourpak and the mount and gives 3" rear and 1" forward from the stock position. The good thing is I can adjust it in about 30 seconds without tools. It raised the tourpak by maybe 3/4", if that much.
