Hoppy Converter
Any one using a Hoppy Converter for their trailer lights, where did you mount the converter? The few instructions that came with it don't mention moisture, ventilation, or heat.
Any other pointers, tips, or hints will be most welcome. Thanks for your time.

I mounted mine on the trailer hitch assembly, but I think water got to it and I had to replace it. I only mounted the hitch on my bike when I was going to tow, and took it off afterwards. I had the Hoppy wired to a 6-pin quick disconnect behind the right side cover so connecting/disconnecting was easy.

I mounted my converter (Reese, and it's weather proof) inside the frame on the right side, near where the rear fender goes under the frame crossbeam. I used one of these, female end to the converter, and male end on the trailer wiring.

Mine inside the left cover above or to the side of the coolant reservoir.

My first Hoppy was mounted on the hitch but shorted out in heavy rain on the way back from the National Rally in Custer. I then purchased the same Hoppy but this one was short proof. It had a 3' pigtail from the converter to the plug. I put the coverter under the coolant jug behind the right side cover and ran the pigtail between the rear fender and saddlebag. I zip tied the plug on the hitch. I also had the 6 pin plug and got the idea from CJ.

Mike.....if you're headed north, the coolant jug is on the east side.

Thanks folks, the info will make this a much easier process. And I will be sure to point the bike North when I do it to keep the Bowie Knife from coming out.
Thanks for your time.

Since I wasn't using the rink-dink factory tools, I removed the little "shelf" under the left cover. This is where I mounted mine along with a relay and a small fuse block. Man was it cramped in there but pretty well protected.
