Clutch Spring Conversion Kits -- Converts Diaphragm Spring to Six Coil Springs

Just curious, Barnett makes Clutch Spring Conversion Kits -- Converts Diaphragm Spring to Six Coil Springs for several bikes. Given so many are reporting stock diaphragm problems, why no conversion kit for the 1600's?

I see that the Nad 1700's have springs. Is that because springs provide better feel and consistency throughout the tension curve, even when hot?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge !

I think the coil springs you are seeing are the springs for the inner clutch. There's now way to replace the outer spring with coils.

Hey Thanks !

I get it now.

Any opinion on which is better, Barnett spring vs. Meanie spring with Judges washers?

My understanding is a 1600 does't need the Judge's washers. The difference between the Barnett and Mean Streak spring is that the "Meanie" is a Ma Kaw part, and the Barnett is after market with similar spec.

Dave they do make a conversion from diaphragm to coil and it's pretty simple to do.

I was going to go with the full Gorilla clutch the next time I needed a spring but Sherm's closed down before I could get one.

Well I'm Confused ! If my 2002 NOMAD...has a slipping clutch, Do I order the 6 coil springs..or a Diaphram from Kawasaki (or Barnett) ?

On AMAZON.COM..they show the 6 small coil springs....and I'm sure they wont replace my OEM Clutch Diaphram (that is shown, in Gajits site, as the "fix" for the slip problem on the 1500fi NOMAD)

The six springs you see on Amazon aren't for your clutch. You need the diaphragm spring.

If I remember right, CJ found the Barnet MT25 calibrated thicker than the Meanie and I found the same thing. I think this is what he posted,
OEM: .06405"
Meanie: .06705"
Barnett: .0725"

That looks like a tough clutch, probably a little overkill for most applications.

I replaced the one in my 07 with stock.
Don't see the big deal. Had 98,000 miles on it when I sold it and could still do wheelies.
OK, no wheelies but I still think the stock parts are fine.
