Turn signal question on my 1600

Hey guys. So tonight I removed the light bar that held the 2 fog lights and the turn signals. I reinstalled my front turn signals to the front forks and completely removes the 2 fog/spot lights. I noticed that when the bike is running the front turn signals stay lit but the rear turn signals only come on when I activate the turn signal switch. Is this normal?

Yeah I think so. I think the rears only light when in use.

Yep thats the way they are supposed to work. The rear signals only have single filament bulbs in them.
I took my rear signals apart and replaced the sockets with dual filament sockets, I now havw rear running lights and turn signals.

..Yea..my 02 Nomad works that way...

FYI .. the more lights the better..Front & Rear ! (maybe on the sides also)

I did the same as ring.. dual filament sockets in the rear so I have running lights front and rear.

Just remember if you do the mod to duel filaments in the rear, you should change the lenses to red. It is illegal in most places to run amber lights in the rear unless they are turn only lights.

Where did you get the dual sockets?
Can you get them at Autozone?
Are the difficult to change out? Plug and play?

Right. I did this to my Nomad. Lot of work but works well. Makes a good winter project.

I just happened to have some here, but Autozone should have some. Its not that hard to switch them, and the wiring you tap into for the running light, or brake light is under the seat, its your choice. The easiest way to do this is to buy a pair of front turn signals and mount them on the rear, that way there is no messing around. Just connect the wires and your done.

If your going to get involved in running wires and changing sockets why not install some running/brake lights on the back of your hardbags instead?
It increases visibility, grabs peoples attention more when braking and enhances the looks of the bike. It would be simplier to do too.

(Turn signal lens are actually amber, sunshine is making them look yellow.)
