Leak

05 Nomad. Around 14,000 miles. Just noticed a little leak coming from the left side. Not enough to drop on the floor, but coats part of the frame near the side stand. Before I remove the left side engine cover, what shoule I expect?

I wouldn't remove it to find a leak....no Oil behind it. Take it back in for warranty work. Need to figure out what oil is leakin Motor, rear end, of hydraulic.

Leak

Warranty expired last week :(. I'm pretty sure it's motor oil. Was hoping it was kicked up from the road or something.

Jayc, I had a leak similar to that. It was a gasket and it was covered under the warranty. You might get them to give you a break if you get it in right away.

Ya, maybe I'll do that. Just hate to be without the bike. I ride to work every day and trips on the weekend. Plus since new it's never been back to the dealer.

I had the exact same leak. Turned out to be a very small bearing/gear in the clutch assembly area. it slid out of place.

jayc: you have a clutch slave seal going out. it will drip a little at first then it will leak out up to a 1/2 cup at a time. my brothers did it at about 8,000 miles and the dealer just glued it instead of replacing the seal. it held a few weeks then leaked again. he got it fixed right the second time. It's a short fix as far as time and should be under warranty(maybe). Must be a common flaw with the Nomad? Good Luck

Doc how correct you are. It was a cltch seal. Mine slid out of place. weird. slid it back in and not an issue with it again.

Mine was the front final drive shaft seal. It was right where the rubber boot is slid onto the drive shaft.

Thats an odd place to leak KG, but this leak jayc is talking about will be leaking right under the kickstand. Watch for it, must be fairly common.

Yeah. The last 3 trips I've planned with the Nomad have cost me around the $200 mark before leaving for repairs or necessities. Had to get a battery before the first one, the seal had to be replaced before going to Vermont, and the rear tire had to be replaced before the mtn. trip. If I wanna play, I gotta pay! Like a friend told me, "Yeah, but look at how much fun you're having." Great thought.
