Garry's Fork Brace, VN1700 Voyager
I have for sale a custom designed fork brace for Kawasaki Voyager. The brace is CNC machined 6061T6 aluminum.
This brace will fasten the top of the fork sliders together to provide a much stiffer assembly that reduces fork flex and twisting and allows the suspension to move more freely. No more 'rubber cow' feel as you round a bumpy curve in the road. Since the brace moves with the slider, the stock chrome protection sleeves can no longer be used. You can choose to leave your fork tubes exposed or install rubber boots to protect the tubes. Installation is not difficult but will require a bike lift, proper tools and some mechanical ability. Although intended for the Voyager, it will also fit the Vaquero. It will not fit the Classic or Nomad, nor any 1500 or 1600. The price is $245US, includes the brace, fasteners, install instructions, insurance, shipping and tracking within USA lower 48. I accept PayPal, check, EMT, bank transfer. Please note there should be no tariff or duty on orders totaling less than $800US. PM me (GV550) from this forum or email gardar(at)wightman.ca for arrangements. The units are made to order, please allow 7-14 days for delivery. Feel free to post questions or comments here. Canadians please contact me for special pricing and shipping arrangements.

I could sure use something like that on my Nomad, it feels like a wet noodle especially through the corners.

I need this in my life ... Like asap lol I find my bike getting wobbly in the corners all the Damn time. Almost sent me off the road once. 70-80mph is the avg cornering speed for me I push it hard lol.
So how hard is it to install ? Do forks need to be dropped or can you work around it another way ? |

You need to drop the forks, it has to slide on from the top. 2 hour job or so. Nothing hard, drop the wheel, fender then slide out the forks. There is another thread on this item here with a little more detail:

I have had requests to supply a fork brace for the 1700 Nomad, the fork tubes are smaller so I am looking for a donor bike to get measurements from and do a fitting. If a Nomad owner near SW Ontario can help out I will provide free installation if you decide to buy a brace.

Hey Garry!
A few of questions: I'm looking to change the fork oil in the fall sometime, so would want it before I start that project. How much lead time do you need? I have seen pics of the brace in black. Do you get them anodized/powder coated or did the buyer do that themselves? Any suggestions on where to get rubber boots to protect the exposed forks? Thanks! |

Sabre-T, I have a brace on hand and can ship tomorrow. If I have to get one made it can take 10-15 days.
I provide the brace in aluminum finish only, I don't have a local source for anodizing or powder coating. Rubber boots are Bikers Choice Fork Boots 41mm, available from Amazon or JP Cycle #2300012. Cheers ![]()

My brace has about 25K on it. No boots, I roll nekkid. No problems, they still look brand new. Yea, it's a bit of a gamble but it's going to take a direct hit from a pretty big rock to cause a problem. But, I do keep my bike really clean...so grit doesn't get into the forks.

Mine is 2, maybe 3 years old and still looks brand new. And every time I dive into a corner at Mach Retard I remember how awesome it is.

Hi There,
I just visited Garry today and had the fork brace installed on my Vaquero. I live about an hour away from Garry so I was able to give the brace a good workout right away and the improvements are well worth the price. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. In my opinion Garry's brace does to a suspension what Ivan's flash does to performance. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
