Fl Newbie w/few questions...new-to me Nomad

Hey Y'all ....glad to join this band of brothers...thanks for allowing me in !
Just snagged a garage queen,one-owner 2000 Fi 1500 Nomad, in crimson red with only 18k orig miles !! I'm really looking forward to adding the miles on her and wanted a few pointers from u ole wisdom laden Vulcan boys out there. I've been a motorcyclist for past 45+ yrs ....so I've had a few, but my experience with Kawis' was back in 70/80's which still is a bit foggy to recall....
I was into 900 Z-1B & KZ1000 Z-1R models....so glad to still be alive now !
As I got older I was drawn to BMW 900 airheads & 1150RT oliheads which I still have for N.Y. touring in Adk mnts region. Down here in the deep south the wifey & I decided to try out cruiser/bagger style....hence the new-to-us 1500 Nomad. Basically, that's my story, just wanted to say hey & get a speed course of info on my new steed.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys !
My main concern is in regards to this 'plastic gear thingy' that works in conjunction with supplying oil lubrication to I guess, both cylinder walls ?
I've read several posts in this & another Kawi forums regarding gear failure on earlier (1989-1999) Vulcan 1500 models which results in engine seizure.
Just wanted to be sure my 2000 Nomad w/fuel inj. is not one of 'them' and that it was manuf'd with the newer 'steel type gear' ??
Is there a website out there...where Kawasaki might have listed which serial #'s are affected ?
If it helps to identify the issue better,here's my #JKBVNAL1XYA001816 / manuf'd Jan 2000 / model VN1500L.

I have heard of only a very few of the earliest 2000 year models that had th plastic one, if it were mine, I'd pull the side cover off and look so I would know for myself. Welcome to the forum, kinda new here myself but been around Vulcans for a while now. I'd also check the numbers on those tires to see when they were manufactured, if they are old I'd Chuck them and put new ones on for my own piece of mind. Other than that just ride it like you stole it

Welcome oleVbagger In Missouri here. You're safe with the steel gear on your 2000 FI. They may of had some on the classics, I don't know, but none of the 2000 Nomads had a plastic gear. I have the same bike. Different color.
