My opinion and review of the Shinko 777HD Whitewall tires:
Hello all. I have had these on my 1500 Nomad now for about 1000 miles. I had them installed with 2oz dynabeads in each tire. I went with the Stock 150/80 16 on the rear, and the 130/90 16 on the front. I am very impressed with these tires. VERY impressed. I have had experience with Metzeler, Bridgestone, Dunlop, and now Shinko, and all I can say is I don't find these inferior to the others in any way. In fact, so far, I find them surperior to all of them. Handling is great. I have yet to even remotely feel any slippage while rounding even the tightest of curves, tar snakes on the highway are a complete non issue, and these tires are very quiet as well. Tonight was my first experience with them on wet pavement, and all I can say is I felt absolutely no difference than I do on dry pavement. Wet traction is superb. About 900 of those miles have been ridden 2 up and so far, there is zero wear on these tires. In fact, they still have the nubs. If they continue to wear this way, I'm sure I'm going to be very satisfied with their longevity. I am running 40lbs in both front and rear. I guess to sum everything up, for 180 bucks for the pair, I will have no reason to shop for any other kind of tire in the future for my Nomad. Oh, and I think they look pretty sharp too.

Keep measuring and post every few thousand miles. I'm gonna need tires soon.

Yes keep measuring.
1000 Miles is not a good indication of tread wear

Would you guys feel any different if they had YOKOHAMA on the sides?
Shinko bought the molds and processes from Yokohama and produce what is essentially a YOKO tire in South Korea. I'm on my second set and have no plans to run anything else. MT

Yes , keep us posted on your progress with these tires . I'm planning on changing both for next season . I've been happy with my dunlop white walls but I'm always willing to change to something better .
Thanks for the review so far !! |

It is when you are only getting 3-4 thousand out of them.

Well like I said, they have a little over 1000 miles on them now and the nubs are still on them. I think I'm gonna get more than 3-4000 miles out of them. But I will keep making updates as I keep upping the mileage.

I've been using Shinko's on my last 3 bikes. I haven't noticed them outlasting any of the other major brands, but they're not wearing out extremely fast either. On the Suzuki C90, the rear seemed to wear faster than on the old Vulcan 750. I'm thinking weight difference may be a factor there. Just put a 777 on the rear of the Vaquero. Never had any issues with wet or dry grip on them. Can't beat the price of them, very happy with the performance.

Hey Mick, How much air pressure you run in the rear?

I got right around 12000 miles out of my last Shinko rear, which is just about average for me whatever brand I run.
I really never noticed anything bad about their handling, and their wet handling is above many of the other brands I've run. Both sets have been smoother than every last Dunlop I've had period. Every Dunlop I put on my bike has cupped, no exceptions. None of the Shinko's has cupped yet. The Metzler rear wore out in about 6500 miles for me. At $160 delivered for two tires and no noticeable downside, why wouldn't I stick with the Shinko's? MT

Only 3300 miles on my 777HD 180/65-16 but so far I'm pleased with it. I don't ride nearly as much as I used to (10K a year vs 2K) so when my Mick Com 2 wore out I opted for the $70 less expensive tire. So far I got no complaints.
