Nomad pipes on a classic HELP

Hey guys I just finished the classic to bagger conversion on my 2001 1500 classic. To round things off I ordered Cobra slash cut bagger exhaust. I assumed it will come with the hangers to mount both pipes but after watching some vids I'm not so sure. Since mine is a classic there's no factory hanger for the left side. I tried searching but I didn't come up with what I'm looking for. What will I need to get these mounted?
I can fab but would rather keep the factory hardware look.

The pipes hang from the factory bag supports.

You know, the ones you detest.

The mount on the Classic is in the wrong location for the baggers.

Go to a parts fiche someplace like ronayers.com and you'll see how they go together.

Don't take it personal.

What you're trying to do can be done, but it IS going to be interesting and don't expect much help, not many have done it like you're project with the evil empire bags.

It took me a good bit of time to modify a set of Nomad bag supports to fit my MeanStreak, and I stayed in my species.

Good Luck

Didn't take it personal. It was a good comeback. I finally found some pics. I'm going to fab brackets and will post the results. Thanks!

What MAS said! You just have to adapt. I've adapted a few duals to the classics....I always used the rear footpeg mounts using some 1/8 or 3/16s metal angled back at about 20 degrees.
What I've always done is hold the front wheel in a wheel chock. Then, hold the bike straight and perpendicular to the ground with a scissor jack under the bikes frame under the engine.
Then you can use some wooden blocks to put between the ground and bottom of mufflers. get everything level and straight. Lay a level across the muffler mounts. get these straight.
Get a piece of angle and lay along the top of your muffler mounts, bending your footpeg brackets to meet your angle....I suggest you weld these 2 brackets together, but you can bolt it.
Tweak your brackets, once you have everything aligned, drill your holes thru your angle and bolt up your mufflers.
Tweat things again as needed, take off your brackets, grind/shape as needed to look good, then paint/powdercoat and reinstall.

Last ones I installed had custom bags and brackets mounted to the rear fender struts. To make it look totally custom, I used a semi's honeycomb stack heatshield between the mounting bracket and the muffler for passengers ankle and foot protection. Plus, it just looked cool....
Go Ride!

That's exactly what I have in mind. Thank you for confirming that it works before I attempt.

I got the pipes yesterday and started fitting. The left side hits the CDI box. Cobra made no mention of moving it. Do the Nomads have the CDI box in the same location as the Classics? Mine is right behind the engine.

Do you mean the rectifier/regulator.

Your bike has an ECM under the seat.

The ref/rec is behind the engine on the same side as the driveshaft.

Most relocate it to where the goats bladder is/was.

Tried moving it and the pipe still won't line up. My guess is it's bent wrong. I'm going to get in touch with Cobra but I'm sure it'll somehow cost me. I stuck the VnH primarys back on with some stainless tubes. Sounds Bitchin!!!!!!!!!

Right now I'm running V&H primaries with 30" fishtail extensions, just chrome straight pipes with fishtails at the ends, trimmed them off just to barely clear my bags....installed a sleeve inside with a 1/4" rod going across to make them legal....

Yea, a little loud....have to make your presence known or you'll be run over....
Especially the damn old ladies texting when the grandkids are yelling and jumping around!
Its hard to beat the V&H Baggers....for fit and alignment....
I jump down on her hard with the bigbore thunder 1600....its enough to wake up the dead....
