Ultimate Seat

I have been using the Ultimate Seat for 3 years now, I love it. I can do 300 mile days now without a problem, if you can swing it, the driver backrest is the icing on the cake.

Got them on! Only rode short trip around town, looks like rain, so far I like it. Side note, I've just listed my Custom World International drivers backrest for sale in parts!

I put an Ultimate on my VTX1800S. Rode it for 6 years. Was the difference in night and day. You'll love it.

Any update for a longer ride? Love the look and price of the Ultimate vs a Russell. Ultimate has that 15 day money back guarantee too.

This is the most comfortable saddle Ive ever had on a motorcycle.. Thanks, minst7877 (Don) for selling it to me from his retired 1999 Nomad.

I'll be heading down to Weed California on it next Tuesday. It will be a long day, butt I'm excited to make the ride with my new (to me) Russell Day Long.

Please post your experiences on it. Man I am back and forth so much I don't know what to do lol. I love the Ultimate with the studs but you cant ease the cost of buying each item in pieces if want to use the oem rear seat and driver backrest with the Ultimate. But I would still have my oem seats I could put on to give my kids a ride on the bike. We only ride in the subdivision. And the wife likes to take a few similar rides. So I would have to set it up solo at first then order the rear seat and backrest later. I do ride 98% solo anyway and Ultimate does have the 14 day return policy and at a bit over 300 bucks (45 more for the studs) it is cheap. I emailed Russell yesterday and was surprised to find out that my oem rear seat and driver backrest can be used with the Russell. So I think I may try the Ultimate first and if it doesn't do the trick then send it back and get the Russell. I could still run the Russell as a solo seat and get a fender bib or Fender rack for a cleaner look.

The RDL is the most comfortable seat I have ever owned and I have been riding since 1966. I have done 600 mile days in comfort.
The only downside is their lead time, it takes a while to get the seat. I bought a used seat real cheap to use while they had mine.

After putting roughly 1200 miles total on it, over all I still love it. The most I rode in a day was 300 miles, and didnt have a pain in the butt at all. The wife loves the rear seat as well, she said the stock one felt like a 2 by 12 after 2 hours, lol.

Isn't a RDL seat built specifically for each individual ?
So how does buying a used one built for someone else work?

It should be fine if you are about the same size and weight and the person it was made for.
Not sure how well it would work if your not.

I thought so, but there can't be a lot of difference. Framer and I both have them on our 1600, we set on both and really couldn't tell the difference. I am taller and longer, and mine was suppose to be built higher and set me back farther, but you can only go back so far. Weight wise there is not much difference between us.
They could make the suspension softer or stiffer depending on weight, but if you within 20-40 lbs I wouldn't think it would make to much difference.
But it is a all day seat 400-600 mile not a issue.

I'd never heard of an Ultimate seat, and it looks just like a Mustang in the pic, so did a web search and found the Ultimate web site. And yes they are exactly like a Mustang, right down to the backrest mounting bracket.

Did Mustangs patents run out and these guys are building Mustang knock offs?

I've been riding Mustangs for years to include on my Nomad.

I had a Mustang on my 650 Yamaha and on my 2007 Nomad.
Hated both.
Put an Ultimate on my 2008 Nomad and loved it.
So, no I do not think Mustang and Ultimate are the same seats.

For the most part the RDL seats must be very similar.
How else do they make a seat from a photo of you sat on the bike.
