Any reccomendations for a rain suit?
Looking for rainsuits for me and the wife. Are planning a trip and would like to have one available. Prefer a hood, decent quality and Velcro cuffs. Lookin to spent under $100.00 each.
Also the exhaust protection for the legs would be great. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

The First Gear Rainman jacket and pants are very good and durable. I've had a set for about 8 years. I've ridden thru some pretty nasty rain and the suit kept me dry. I wear an XL jacket and pants, but ordered 3XL so that they fit over my regular riding gear.
The jacket does have a hood. Elastic cuffs, not velcro, but they worked well for me. The pants have apparently been discontinued. They have exhaust shields (or mine do) and they have held up very well. I know they touched the pipes when I rode a Sabre, but no marks at all on them. Even the places that still have them in stock don't mention exhaust shields, though. The Sierra line they still have has what appears to be heat shields, but does not mention them either. Both the jacket and pants have their own built in stuff sack. Very handy. Jacket and pants will cost you more than $100 per set, though. |

Tour Master is what we have, work great. Buy once and be done.
No offense DL but the frog toggs we had were not worth the money. Zippers broke after the second use and the pants will melt on your exhaust if your not careful.

I use the Helly Hansen "Voss" jacket & pants. Lightweight, but very strong, and water-PROOF. They're lined so easy on and off, and very comfortable. Snap cuffs, but have never had one open up at speed. It would be easy enough to add a velcro tab if wanted.

I bought his and her bright yellow rain suits at an army surplus store in Tucson for $10 each. They were new, not surplus. They came with bib pants, jacket and detachable hood. What little I've needed them they worked fine. I also bought some gauntlet style yellow gloves, loose enough to fit over leather gloves that go up the arm far enough to keep rain from driving up the sleeves, which are snap adjustable. Unless you ride an awful lot in the rain, I just don't see why anyone would spend much on a rain suit. Even when I lived in MA I had a cheap similar suit and it lasted for years until I tore the pants. I still have the jacket and I've been in AZ 15 years. Okay, my work here is done. Now, back to the atom.

I have used the Nelson-Rigg suit through a couple storms and it has held up very well for the money. +1 for that suit.

Don't go cheap like I did on my first rain suit. Halfway thru a rainy ride the seams came apart and my riding buddy was laughing his azz off cause I looked like I was trailing a streamer of flags down the highway. $100 each oughta easily get you into a quality suit.
