crazy 2007 Nomad won't start Update

It's doing it again.
Put in new pump test rode for about 8 miles ran great. He parked it for 3 days, riding to my house yesterday going up a small hill it lost power and died.
Cranked over just fine but would not start. He trailered it home. It sat for about 5 hours then it started up just fine.
Thank goodness it didn't do this while we were traveling.

I'll go up there later this week and try to figure out what's going on.
Starting to tic me off.

Does it only happen going uphill? Is there water in the fuel tank? Does the fuel pick-up point become the lowest point?

Clean gas no water. Only a slight up hill was a full tank of gas.
Did it on the first ride after the short test ride.
Could be a defective fuel pump.
I'll check it later this week.

I wonder if it's OK to blow some low pressure air into the fuel output on the pump??

If gas goes bad, sometimes a film coats the fuel filter screen above the petcock. Easy to remove & check.

Might be loosing power intermittently to the fuel pump. Wiggle wires going to it or near fuel pump (I think there is one)

Some time ago I heard of a similar mystery issue and it turned out to be the inside of the fuel line collapsing and choking off the fuel supply. Since you changed the pumps and handled any associated wiring but still have the same problem, that would be my next thing to check. Blowing the lines out would be a good way to check them. Blowing from the engine side back to the tank would be a good idea in case there happens to be blockage; no sense driving it in deeper.

If you do, use very low air pressure in the range of 20 - 25 PSI. More than that and you could damage the fuel pressure regulator.

I blew mine out with a spray can of carb cleaner when I changed the filter last time. I forgot to mention that I use Sea Foam every so often.

Just thought I'd mention , there is a small filter/screen inside the fuel pressure regulator that you might want to check . If the 1600's are the same as the 1500's there are two bolts the hold the regulator on the throttle body . Pull that off and you'll see the screen .

Hope you find the issue !!

We never did find the issue, even put it in diagnostic mode and there were NO error codes in the ECU.
He trailered it to the dealer. Waiting to hear.
I'll post what it was when we find out.

That's why I didn't go to dealer. Since I couldn't duplicate it or cause it to happen I didn't want to spend a fortune helping the dealer's retirement plan. I have no trust or faith in dealers and most private shops.

Replace the battery! I know it sounds weird, but the samething happened to me.
Put in new battery and all is good.
If the battery loses voltage it can kill the engine, and the battery tested good, so it goes from good to bad. I hope this helps.

Ride that CCT more Bob! :) I think it's electrical and might be the battery connectors. Weak current will show up exactly as you have described!
