Nomad sissy bar removal?

One of the things I really liked about my old '07 (1600) Nomad was that it was easy to "single it out". The sissy bar was easily removed along w/the rear seat. I always thought it gave the bike a bada** look. Obviously, I can't single out the seat on my '14 Nomad but I'd like to remove the sissy bar and the bracket for a cleaner look. (I never haul anyone else around.)

Is this possible? I know the sissy bar itself can be removed but leaving the bracketry in place would sort of defeat the purpose although it would make it easier for me to swing my leg over as it sometimes gets caught on the sissy bar.

If that's possible, would the stock Vaquero seat mount up to the Nomad? I see those all over the place for cheap but it wouldn't look right to have that on the bike w/the sissy bar in place.

Just some random Sunday afternoon thoughts. (For those that are thinking, here he goes again, modifying his bike, no. The ability to unbolt something is one thing. I have no intention of doing anything to the bike that can't easily be undone. If I remove something, it will be by unbolting it, not cutting anything off. )

Is it possible to remove the sissy bar brackets and add spacers in place of the brackets ?

I honestly don't know. I don't know how integrated everything is. I've looked @ the parts schematics and I'm still not sure.

after you pull the bags off 3 bolts instead of 2 on the 15 and 1600 there are 7 screws in the plastic trim on each side . someone was looking for 1 of those awhile back so be gentle . now 4 bolts hold the grab bars and back rest and I think that's all they do ! the plastic covers are going to leave a large gap . you can see if the 4 bolts hold the fender or just the bolts in the saddle bag brackets do . I do not remember . the bolt torque is 18#s

Yes, the passenger backrest comes off, but not sure how "clean" it will look as there are myriad small chromed plastic covers that give everything the illusion of being bigger/thicker.

I'll have to look closer if I have time in the morning before work.

That's the schematic I was looking @. Still can't quite tell if the entire assembly comes off or not. It almost looks like taking everything off will leave a large gap between the bag and frame. I like the full filler look.

I'm not going to mod anything. If I can unbolt stuff and make it look good, I'll do it. If I have to "make things work", I won't. Meh. It was just a random Sunday thought anyway although I think a bare fender and a Vaquero seat would look nice.

Thanks, guys.

Garry Van der Eyk used to swap out parts on his Voyager to mimic a Vaquero. IIRC he had a Vaq seat, and all the replacement trim parts needed to cover the holes left when the trunk was removed. Here's a photo I had saved of another forum member's alteration to his Voyager... Looks good, and I've thought of doing similar myself - except I also find that I use my trunk ALL the time.

I wonder whether this alteration was made using Nomad trim... It looks suspiciously like it did, back there under the passenger part of the seat.

That looks (what do the kids say these days?)....tight! Wow! If there was some way to simply remove that awful turn signal bracket (what was Ma Kaw thinking?), that rear end would be almost perfect. It DOES look like what's left of the Nomad sissy bar mounts but that looks better than I envisioned.

Swapped a couple emails w/Garry. I got some pics. Unless you see BIG pics of his Voyager (or in person I assume although he sold it), you just can't see how totally cool his mods are. Trying to figure out how to do the same w/o spending big bucks.
