V+H baffles
...I noticed last summer that my bike seemed to be quite a bit noisier than the year before. In fact when I roll on hard, I thought it might be down right obnoxious to anyone that heard it. So one of my winter projects was to pull the baffles and see what they looked like after 5 years. This is what I found.
...So its off to find some baffle packing. I'm encouraged that I will be able to quiet things down some. I recall some threads on this subject a while back so I'll be looking at them for some of your ideas as to what changes I might make.

V+H baffles
yep i would say that would do it. funny haw everyone has a differen`t sound their looking for. I have V&H`s an wanted a little louder & deeper soung i actually removed my baffels & took the insulation off them, shortened them & welded them back twice before I got the sound i wanted. just personal preference i guess. maybe you`ll get it back the way ya want it..

Lomax, if you repack the baffles and want them semi-quiet, wrap the packing loosely. The tighter you get it, the louder it'll be (to a point that is).

I read somewhere here that some are using stove rope for packing.

Go to Gadget's page - there is quite a bit of info on re-packing and what works! I just thru my V & H mufflers away a put a set of Supertrapp SE's on and there is no re-packing and they are not obnoxius now.
