Textile Jacket
Ok, I have been looking at updating my leather jacket for a textile jacket. After looking on the internet and a couple of stores I like the looks of the tourmaster Transition Jacket.
http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/cata...t-p-240_3.html However, I haven't seen one in person. I went to a dealer in Denver and they carried the Firstgear jackets. I tried three of them on and all three were a different size for what fit comfortably. The Kilimanjaro which was an XL, the next was a Rainier XXL and the third (can't remember) was a XXXL. Without trying one on I am a little bit afraid of ordering and getting the wrong size. Anyone have any suggestions other than trying to find a dealer with the Transistion Jacket.

The tag on my leather jacket reads 46.
The tag on my Tourmaster Intake mesh jacket reads XL/46. So I would say order the same size as your leather jacket,it should be fine. If it isn't you can probably return it for a different size, but I would go with your actual jacket size.

I'd be careful before ordering. Check the internet for several vendor sites and look at the testimonials. Usually they tell if it's one or two sizes over. Or ask Tourmaster.
I recently ordered this one: http://www.leatherup.com/p/Mens-Moto...ets/41436.html and got a 2XL. Normally I wear XL. It fits right but I can't put on any more weight.. :) or wear a real bulky sweater underneath. The jacket with the lining, however, is as warm or warmer than my leather jackets and waterproof to boot. If I ordered again, I'd go with a 3XL. I've researched a bit and 75% of the jackets seem to run one or two sizes over what you normally wear. Just a heads up. Pete |

My brother just bought a new jacket and pants last week, They are called Made 2 Race or M2R. They are made in China but seem to be a good value for the money. They come in a few styles as well. He paid $99.00 for the jacket and $110.00 for the pants. the jacket has a zip out liner and soft armour. The only thing to watch for is the sizing, he rarely ever takes a large size, but he needed a 3XL to fit him. I Take a 44 size jacket and his M2R fits me fine as well. They seem to be new to Canada but are quite popular in Australia.

I know what you mean about being hesitant ordering online, Waterman. Nothing ever fits me the same from brand to brand. On non-biker clothing, I always wear a size large shirt and jacket. However, I finally found a leather jacket last year in a store, and I had to buy the size XXXL for the proper fit! I never in a million years would have ordered something that large. Even looking at that manufacturer's website that has a sizing chart, I still wouldn't order the XXXL going off that chart. Good luck finding something.

Waterman....I tried on a Large Transition 2 Tourmaster last week. I loved it! I am a 44
6'2' 195lbs. It fit a little loose on me but that is what I wanted so I can layer if needed. It was $167. I did not buy it because they did not have the color I wanted. Based on reviews and what I saw I think this is a real nice jacket. It is a HEAVY jacket with the liner in it. Which is what I want. Let us know what you do!

Waterman,
I have the TourMaster Cortech GX-Air jacket, and I love it. I am impressed with the quality of the TourMaster products. I would check on newenough.com or tonker.com for the jacket. I especially like newenough.com's site.

Thanks everyone. What has me in this quandry is the fact I tried on three jackets from another company. According to their sizing chart the same size in all three should have fit. Lo and behold, three different makes from the same company and three different sizes. I will probably do some calling around and see what dealers carry the transistions and go from there.

I will say that my Technic textile jacket is far superior to any of my leather jackets.

My jacket size (for suits) is a 43. However, my Tourmaster Epic jacket is a 46 (L). If I remember right, the tag or one of their internet sites says the 46 is like a 44. I was able to try some on in a local store, but they didn't have a large, they had a M and an XL. M was definitely too small, and XL was definitely too big. http://www.newenough.com/ usually has good prices, and what looks like a decent return policy.
Good luck. |
