1600 Spector 2x9 inch filter, V&H baggers, Solder on TFI. 42/44 I don't exceed 70 mph on the un-corrected speedo much, and ride 2 up 98%.

I drop a little if the engine guard covers are off, and they will be coming off later today since it's like the heater is turned on now.

Dunlop 251 Radial ft, Dunlop SP 5000 ct rear. All full syn oils.

If I swapped for a mc reat tire I might be at 44/46.

89 octane and never looked back, 0 ping.

20,000 miles on same plugs.

I've gotten 44.2 mpg riding 2 up 50 - 70 mph. This is using Conoco 87 octane. This is pure gasoline. No ethanol. Using the cheap no name 87 with 10% corn, I'll drop to 38 mpg with similar riding.

Its a stutter......leave him alone he can't help it.

Madcow,
Wages can very quite a bit from region to region; as can the cost of living. We have people where I work that are at $600 to $900 a week.

Remember the old days when they sold Sunoco 260, I think it was 104 octane.

I remember that. I used to work in a Sunoco station. You turned a handle to what grade the customer wanted. That's right, I pumped their gas, checked their oil and washed their windshield while pumping their gas. One elderly lady even gave me a 25 cent tip.
Lets see, .25 and I was making $1.25 an hour. The last time I worked for money I was making $13.45 an hour so a tip of 1/5 my hourly wage would be $2.69 in today's money.

And I'll bet that Sunoco 260 was about 50 cents a gallon also.

Not sure but I know I could fill the tank of my car for less that $5.

When I was a teenager gas cost $.25 a gallon. Lots of times I would be short of money and get $.50 worth of gas. Tim is correct you could fillup for $5.00 or less.

When I first started driving I had a very hard time getting the car to take $10.00 of fuel, and the bike would take about $1.50 to fill.

I remember Sunoco too, and used to spend Sunny Dollars in Canada at face value. I knew it was wrong, but it was just so much fun.

Mac - are you saying you get better MPG with engine guard covers on?

There is a factory sticker on my 01 under the back seat that say's to use 95 octane. I've never seen anything higher than 93 so thats what I always have used and never hear any spark knock. I usually get from 45 to 50 MPG. Thats all stock except the debaffle.
