Cheap Accesory Tricks

Have you ever noticed that those chrome like discs you put on your car mirror fit very well on the swing arm cap AND the top of the Stebel Horn. A little extra 3m mounting tape helps cause the underside is a little dished in. $3? You can afford to lose a few. Not genuine HD.

Share some of your cheap ideas.

Cheap Accesory Tricks

Not a bad idea to add a little bling.
So far, my cheapest add on has been the Stebel horn, everything else is fairly expensive.(LEDs,trailer and hitch, etc.)

I prefer to call them "creative" rather than "cheap". And sometimes, that's exactly the case; I put a lot of thought, effort, AND money into it. **don't tell the Mrs**

Here's a quick one:
I sawed off my toe-shifter, drilled and tapped the lever, and installed one of many available aftermarket shifter pedals made for other bikes.

The heel shifter took more work, but I refuse to let the absence of off-the-shelf accessories stop me from customizing. In fact, I enjoy the challenge. ;)

My cheapest, easiest bling was some 3/8" U-shaped chrome door edge molding on the front fender and tour pack lid edge. I also used some flat D-shaped stock to put around the edges of the saddlebag doors.....so easy a caveman could do it... !

From now on let's refer to cheap upgrades as "economical" or "creative" upgrades.

I'm cheap, and unashamed

My one redeeming feature is that I won't shop at walmart!

One of my very useful cheap aditions is a $4.00 water bottle holder that works with PhattII's

I remember when it was 115 degrees in Mesquite at the western rally you riding up along side me and begging with such a puppy dog look, asking for a drink of water :)

I go for useful. No added weight that doesn't have a practical purpose

Here are a hand full of cheap and 100% pointless modifications.

Piece of chrome metal tape.

Chrome grip end-piece and another piece of metal tape.

Lay down license place with two nilon spacers. I also bent the plate and frame over a bucket to give it a better look

Chrome horn cover off of ebay. $20 to cover gap.

Turn mirrors opposite direction to be more streamline.

Swing arm cover modified from a 1500. Cost $25

Chrome toilet piece/ hidden key

Utah, turning your mirrors around? That will show you more of the area around your bike, and less of the lane next to you.

Is it worth seeing less of what you need to see for looks?

I love Nomad mirror, just for the fact that they get wider out where you need them.

Do your own thing, just saying.

Twasn't me buddy! I had a 2 litter bottle of frozen water laying its side ahead of my risers!! I was cool and that green travel bag on the back seat (check the Mesquite you tube video) had 6 ice cold beers!

I was God that day....

Very very true! I agree with ya. Every single one of those mods are pointless.

The mirrors function just fine either way and when I'm really needing to look back I just turn my head.

Cheap Accesory Tricks

Oops, looks like 2 threads going.

Canadian Tire, Pep Boys, Schucks has rolls of all kinds of door edge and fender guard tim in chrome. The widest adheres nicely to the full length and height of the swing arm. I did a friends with 3 strips of the thinnest version to match the 3 stripes on the hardbags.

What's wrong with cheap and easy? Pointless is more a state of mind? The Honda friends I have call it all "farkles".
